I am very pleased to be able to welcome you to the new Junction Books website. I had no idea when I put Junction Books on hiatus in 2004 that it would take almost a decade to get things up and running again, but that is the way things turned out. In that time, I went back to school and graduated with a degree in graphic design, I worked for the University of Toronto Press for two years, and I published my first book of poetry, The Material Sublime, with Nightwood Editions. It was a busy time for me, and I deliberately kept from publishing chapbooks so that I could work on my own writing. However, once my first book was completed, I knew that it would soon be time to consider restarting Junction Books. And so here we are.
The publishing program I intend to implement will be decidedly different this time around. I will only be publishing two chapbooks a year, one in the fall and one in the spring, and the print-runs will be greatly reduced because I will be printing and binding the chapbooks myself. Because of the limited number of chapbooks I will be producing by hand, I am also added a print-on-demand option for each chapbook title. In this way, I hope to be able to provide well designed publications at a cost that is affordable for me to produce.
I am very excited about the prospect of publishing chapbooks again, and I hope you will keep up with our activities and support the works we publish in any way you can. Watch soon for the announcement of our spring publication in the coming weeks. Cheers!
